Feeling Overlooked

May 9, 2025

This overlooked feeling can happen at work, within your family and even at church. The feeling hurts. Sometimes it even causes us to stop doing things that please us because our expectation is that “they” should treat you differently; listen to you differently; meet your expectations right now.

No one is a mind reader. What is it exactly that is causing you to feel overlooked? Start there first. Sit with you and find out what your real complaint is, then handle it if it is important to you.

We make up stories about so many things and the stories are based on how we expect people to react; treat us; help us; communicate with us. Maybe if you let them know how important it is to you in how you are treated and communicated with, they can then meet your expectations. Made up stories can severely break a relationship. Find out what is most important to you and then share it with the people who you want to understand you. Be gentle with you and with them. Being in rapport is a huge benefit for everyone in a tough situation.
